Members of the TMC team

The TMC team, coordinated by Carles Llop Torné, is composed by young researchers and PhD candidates of the Department of Urban and Territorial Planning of the UPC, as well as other research collaborators and junior fellows, students in ETSAV and other European universities.

Carles LLOP TORNÉ, Ph.D. architect, professor and head of the ETSAV and director of the Department of Urbanism and Territorial planning of the UPC. Teams up with Sebastià Jornet and Joan Enric Pastor, forming JORNET-LLOP-PASTOR architect firm that develops regional and urban plans, many of which have been awarded with prizes like the European Prize for Urban Planning (2010) for the Transformation Plan of the neighborhood of La Mina de Sant Adrià (Conseill Europeen des Urbanistes (ECTP-CEU) & Comitee of Regions EU), the Spanish National Prize of Urbanism (2006), or the Prize of Urbanism for the XI  Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial (2011) for the Urban Development Plan of Montmeló, or the VIII Urbanism Prize of Catalunya for the Modification of the Plan of Tortosa, in the district of Sant Jaume.

From 2009-2012 he was the coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the UPC for the CREPUDMED European project, and is currently the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator of the National research plan  (Plan Nacional I + D + I) with the title “Cities, metropolitan territories and efficient urban regions: strategies and project proposals for the regeneration of the territorial mosaic city.

Marta CARRASCO BONET, architect and PhD student in the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Researcher in the Urban Planning Department, being a member of the Scientific Committee for the European Project CREPUDMED, and in this moment, being one of the research members of the National Research Program i+D+I (Plan Nacional) with the project “Cities, metropolitan territories and efficient urban regions: strategies and project proposals for the regeneration of the territorial_mosaic_city“.

Founder of mixité, reflection and diffusion space about art, architecture and urbanism; and co-founder and coordinator of the interuniversitary project “Inter-Actions, collective methodologies for urban interventions“, developed within the framework of Barcelona University (Fine Arts school) and Polythecnic University of Catalonia (ETSAV and ETSAB).

Konstantinos KOURKOUTAS, architect and PhD student at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Receiver of the FI- AGAUR grant in 2012 to realize his PhD thesis. Currently a researcher in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, having formed part of the scientific committee of the European reserch program CREPUDMED and actually member of the research team of the National Research Project titled “Cities, Metopolitan Territories and efficient urban regions: Strategies and Project Proposals for the regeneration of the territorial mosaic city.”.

SIMONA CERRI, graduated at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ferrara. She has participated in postgraduate course “Participatory local action and sustainable urban development” of the Department of Urban Planning, University of Venezia. Currently, through Leonardo Da Vinci grant, takes part of the research team of the National Research Program i+D+I (Plan Nacional) with the project “Cities, metropolitan territories and efficient urban regions: strategies and project proposals for the regeneration of the territorial_mosaic_city“.

Arturo CALDERON, architect and PhD student at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Receiver of the FI- AGAUR grant in 2013 to realize his PhD thesis. He is a researcher in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and member of the research team of the National Research Project “Cities, Metopolitan Territories and efficient urban regions: Strategies and Project Proposals for the regeneration of the territorial mosaic city.”

XAVIER MATILLA, architect. Since 2000 he has developed his professional career as a collaborator in the arhictectural firm Jornet – Llop – Pastor architects, directing and participating in the drafting of development and urban planning projects as well as in diverse publications . In 2013 he founded the studio Territories XLM with Monica Beguer. He is an associate professor and PhD student in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning in ETSAV. He has been a guest lecturer at several universities and has taught in master courses, seminars and professional courses. He has also been editor of the Yearbook of the Catalonian Planning Society since 2010 and secretary of the Association of Planners of Catalonia Planners (AAUC) of the College of Architects of Catalonia.
